Max Fouchy’s artistic residency in Sicily.
First day started with the visit of Isola Catania, innovation and education hub, located in breathtaking Palazzo Biscari.
Palazzo Biscari is the historical baroque building, considered the most important in Catania
I held the first meeting with assistants Gaia Ferrara and Daniele Lombardo, two students of Abadir, design and visual art Academy. They will assist me during his period of residence, learning his method of sculpting plastic bottles and documenting in a professional manner the entire experience.

Prince Ruggero Moncada offered a special tour of his Palace, talking about the extremely interesting history of the special architecture and how his Family lived in the Palace, until now!
Visiting the beautiful center of Catania with the amazing guide of Giusi Belfiore, president of the Sicilian touristic guides. The city has a majestic baroque architecture, unique because the main material is lava stone. Etna Volcano was a source of living and death too: in 1669 a devastating eruption in fact destroyed the city, the as a phoenix reborn from the ruins, using lava stone.
Another stop of my walk today – underground cave hidden in the basements of a pub.

After a workshop, we had our first results, which will become a part of the installation.
